Leak Detection & REPAIRS
Got a leak? We can help!
“I'm having to add water to my swimming pool every week. Do I have a leak?" it is not unusual to be losing a 1/4" of pool water a day due to evaporation. This means almost 2" a week! The biggest factors affecting this are humidity, wind, and air and water temperature. In a typical 15 foot wide by 30 foot pool only, a one inch per day water loss is equal to approx. 272 gallons of water. The longer water is allowed to leak, the greater the chance of major damage.
To find out if you do have a leak in your swimming pool, fill a bucket with water from the pool and set it on the steps of your pool with the top of the bucket above water level. This will keep the water in the bucket the same temperature as the pool. Fill the pool to its normal level and mark it. Next with your filter system off, wait 24 hours and measure the loss of water. Now, compare the water loss between the bucket and your pool. If you see a difference, you have a leak.
We handle the problem from start to finish, finding the source of the leak, and then performing whatever repairs are needed to fix the problem. We use "geophones" to listen for the leak and only dig where necessary! We also perform dye testing of the main drain, returns, lights and skimmer. We pressurize your skimmer line(s) and return lines with both water and air to determine if there is a leak present.
If the leak is a minor leak, we will use epoxy to fix the minor leak this repair is included in our price. The minor repair is warranted for 90 days from the repair date. if the patch is near a fitting, the pump needs to be left off while it cures, so the flow of water doesn't wash the patch away.
If the leak is found in the plumbing, say it’s not an obvious leak (one that you can see) on the filter system, or the "mouth" of the skimmer where the plastic of the skimmer meets the concrete. This area is very susceptible to movement and often separates causing a leak. These leaks are accessed and the cost to repair will be quoted at the time of the detection. A repair will not be performed without the customers consent. The major leaks are warranted for a year from the repair date.

Leak Detection / Repair Disclaimer: It is possible for more than one leak to be present on a single plumbing line. Typically only one leak can be detected on a single line at one time. Therefore, after the recommended repair is completed it is possible for another leak to exist. If another leak is present and Acqua Nita Services is notified within 30 days of repair completion no additional leak detection charges will incur.
